Ucluelet is a small fishing village on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. It is slowly becoming world renowned for its excellent Salmon fishing and Halibut fishing opportunities. At the turn of the century Japanese fisherman pioneered the Salmon fishing on the West Coast and Ucluelet was there destination of choice, you can still find some of the original family names living in Ucluelet today. As most small fishing villages have, we have gone relatively un-noticed for decades but the tides are steadily changing and we are gaining more notoriety with each passing fishing season, Bob Izumi, WFN worlds fishing network, and Mark Pendlington are just a few who have started to take notice, featuring Ucluelet and the west coast on their fishing television shows.
What's unique about Ucluelet is the vast resources that are available to us. We are not a run specific fishery, what do I mean by that you may ask? Simply put we do not rely on any one fishing run to catch our fish. The nutrient rich inshore and offshore waters are a breeding and feeding ground for both Pacific Halibut and all 5 species of Pacific Salmon, specifically Chinook Salmon and Coho Salmon. All the major runs for the entire west coast of Canada and the United states feed in our region. This results in a vast number of fish travelling thru our fishing areas for anglers to catch. We have access to the Salmon Runs of the Mighty Fraser and Columbia Rivers and all their tributaries just to name a few, never mind the hundreds of Salmon bearing streams located up and down the coast. Add to this the fact that we are in the middle of the Pacific Halibuts migratory range for breeding, feeding, and spawning, and you have the recipe for some of the best fishing anywhere in the world.
During our peak fishing season of June, July, and August, you can expect to fight multiple fish a day, and take home a cooler full of fish, both Salmon and Halibut. The fishing in Ucluelet is so consistent we offer this guarantee, if we ever get skunked while on a full day fishing charter, that day of fishing is on us! Limits of Chinook Salmon and Halibut are quite common while fishing out of Ucluelet, we can not however guarantee a limit of fish, but I can tell you this, last fishing season EVERY group of guests that booked a 3 day or 4 day fishing package went home with their LIMIT of Chinook Salmon and Halibut.
June is a great month for Feeder Chinook and Halibut 10-40 lbs, July starts to heat up with Smiley's and Tyees, and August is Big Chinook Salmon all month Long! Please contact us today to book your next Ucluelet fishing adventure.
